Nick Whalen

Nick Whalen has spent the majority of the last year living and working in Port-au-Prince, Haiti where he has been documenting the UN's fight to rid the capital of heavily armed gangs and life after the rebellion that ousted former president Jean Bertrand Aristide from power in February 2004. He recently began a long-term project in Gary, Indiana. The goal of the project is to document life in what was once one of America's most productive industrial cities, that has since become one of the most impoverished and dangerous inner cities in the country. He has done assignments for the Associated Press, UN IAEA and Boston Now. Nick is available for assignments worldwide and speaks English, Kreyol and French.
