King
Photojournalist
Robert King joined ZUMA Press in February, 2004.
King brings over a decade of experience covering wars and political
unrest in hot spots around the globe. He is best known for his
four-year coverage of Chechnya. In 1996 with nearly every media
outlet focused on Yeltsin's inauguration, King delivered an exclusive
for the Associated Press and received a Pulitzer nomination for
his coverage of the Chechen rebels attack on the Russian military
and re-taking control of Grozny.
King is also widely recognized for his work in Sarajevo where
one of his images was so powerful it motivated a nation into action.
King captured a distraught mother arriving at a hospital holding
her daughter, who was wounded in the eye by mortar fire. The picture,
which ran on the cover of Panorama, sparked a huge public
outpouring of sympathy and support. Upon seeing the cover, Italy's
PDS party leader quickly organized the girl's evacuation. A trust
fund accepted donations, which paid for the girl's medical treatment
in Italy where she resides today.
King's work is regularly published in TIME Magazine, Newsweek,
Paris Match, Stern, Figaro, Forbes and many other global media
outlets.
