Mark Richards

Multi-award-winning chameleon of photography MARK RICHARDS joined ZUMA's elite roster of assignment shooters in July 2004. To serve the varied needs of editors and designers, Richards constantly reinvents himself to deliver a fresh approach on editorial assignments, photo illustrations and portraits.

Richards joined ZUMA from Corbis and was represented by Contact Press before that. Based in the San Francisco Bay area, his work is highly acclaimed, having been selected for publication in Communication Arts Photography Annual 13 different times, most recently the 2004 issue.

Over the years, Richards' photos have appeared in hundreds of leading media outlets, including TIME, Newsweek, the New York Times Magazine, Smithsonian, People, Business Week, Money and Forbes. Richards is currently adding to a long-term editorial project that began as a seven- state assignment for People Weekly documenting the growing problem of childhood obesity. Since the story's publication, Richards has continued to investigate the impact of fast-food culture in the United States.

In addition to editorial photography, Richards spends a lot of time on high-end advertising shoots for clients such as Hewlett Packard and the AARP, among others. His corporate work is described as minimalist, slick and stylish.
