Mark Richards
Multi-award-winning chameleon of photography MARK RICHARDS
joined ZUMA's elite roster of assignment shooters in July 2004. To
serve the varied needs of editors and designers, Richards constantly
reinvents himself to deliver a fresh approach on editorial assignments,
photo illustrations and portraits.
Richards joined ZUMA from Corbis and was represented by Contact
Press before that. Based in the San Francisco Bay area, his work is
highly acclaimed, having been selected for publication in
Communication Arts Photography Annual 13 different times, most
recently the 2004 issue.
Over the years, Richards' photos have appeared in hundreds of
leading media outlets, including TIME, Newsweek, the New York Times Magazine, Smithsonian, People, Business Week, Money and Forbes. Richards is
currently adding to a long-term editorial project that began as a seven-
state assignment for People Weekly documenting the growing
problem of childhood obesity. Since the story's publication, Richards
has continued to investigate the impact of fast-food culture in the
United States.
In addition to editorial photography, Richards spends a lot of time on
high-end advertising shoots for clients such as Hewlett Packard and
the AARP, among others. His corporate work is described as
minimalist, slick and stylish.
