Jeffrey
A. Austin
Jeffrey Austin is based in Minnesota and travels extensively on
assignments and in pursuit of stories that capture his interest.
Since returning from Prague, Czech Republic, in 1997, where he
studied photography at the University of Fine Arts (FAMU), Austin
has specialized in documentary, portraiture and performing-arts
photography.
His recent works include photographing relief efforts
for the U.N. High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) in Kosovo, Macedonia
and West Africa. He has also documented relief work for various
non-governmental organizations in Sri Lanka, Thailand, Sierra
Leone, Liberia and Cambodia.
Funded by a grant from the Jerome
Arts Foundation and with the permission of the Chinese government,
his latest documentary project involved photographing the largest
hydroelectric dam in the world, the Three Gorges Dam project in
Central China.
