James P Nelson
James Nelson began taking pictures over 15 years ago while on an extended solo journey across Tibet, when its borders were still officially closed to outsiders.
In 1995 Nelson was commissioned to photograph Literary Portraits of China the large, glossy coffee table book that took 1.5 years to shoot. Selected images from the project were subsequently exhibited throughout the world culminating in a solo exhibition of his work being held in the People's Palace of China, Beijing.
Based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Nelson's work has appeared in the Sunday Times Magazine, The Independent Magazine, The Observer Magazine, the Evening Standard, the Sunday Express, Esquire, FHM, Elle, World Magazine (UK), De Volkskrant, Het Parool, Elegance, Grasduinen, Nieuwe Revu, Aktueel (Netherlands), Paris Match, Geo, Elle (France), Stern, Geo, Geo Saison (Germany), National Geographic Traveller (US), and many more.
