Hector Amezcua


Hector Amezcua has been a staff photographer for The Sacramento Bee for eight years, having previously worked at both the Fresno and Modesto Bees. He has documented a variety of major stories at The Bee, including a series on the first play staged at Luther Burbank High School in a decade, "Staging a Comeback." Amezcua received first-place photo honors from The California Newspaper Publishers Association and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. He was also among the photographers who participated in the Americanos project, a Smithsonian Institute book and photography exhibition. Amezcua, a Mexico City native, became a U.S. citizen in early 2005.
