Edward Linsmier
zReportage.com is proud to showcase not only the work of seasoned professionals, but also the talents of aspiring photojournalists like Edward Linsmier.
Linsmier is a photojournalism and psychology student of Western
Kentucky University that shows remarkable talent and passion for
his work. In 2004, the Society of Professional Journalists honored
him with a first place award in the general news category for
his coverage at the Republican National Convention. That following
year, he made a trip to Africa where he discovered that Kala-Azar
was quietly killing thousands of helpless villagers. His research
and pictures formed the basis of the zReportage essay, The
Forgotten Disease.
Linsmier is currently focused on completing his studies so that he can spend more time producing in-depth documentaries, specifically on the human impact of war. His inspiration comes from the changes that photography made to his own life.
"As I studied various forms and subjects of photography, I discovered that images of war and its effects impacted me the most. These pictures literally changed my life--they made me appreciate what I have, and more importantly, that I was taking it for granted," he says.
Linsmier is proudly represented worldwide by ZUMA Press.
