Arne Hodalic

A native of Ljubljana, Slovenia, ARNE HODALIC, is a world traveler and acclaimed photojournalist to say the least.

Once planning on becoming a biology professor, Arne spent five years working as a sailboat skipper, a CMAS special diver, and an underwater photographer who specialized in cave diving photography.

In 1987 he founded BRUT Film, a center for freelance artists in audio, video, and film and a year later he became a full-time freelance photographer for a variety of magazines worldwide.

Recognized for such field projects as the Great Civilization Rivers: Ganges, Nile, Sepik, Arne worked as a freelance wire service photographer for years while simultaneously giving lectures to photojournalism students at the Parsons School of Design and Photography.

In the midst of the war in Bosnia, Arne organized tours of refugee camps in Mostar, called "Les Clowns Sans Frontieres," which was featured in a number of publications around the world. Under the Serbian siege of Sarajevo, Arne covered the alternative rock & roll movement.

From crossing the Sudan desert and making his way from Khartoum to Egypt down the Nile river, to sailing around South East Asia, documenting the L'Esprit de Bougainville expedition for two years, Arne has undertaken many challenging expeditions all over Europe, South American, Africa, Asia, and Australia. Over the years, he has contributed work to publications such as National Geographic, Photo Image, Cosmopolitan and also many ecological books like The Forests Between Land and Sea.

An honorable member of the International Federation of Journalists, Arne has received eight major awards from international documentary film festivals for his work in the documentary, "Visitors to the Dark." He is represented worldwide by eyevine.
